Scuba Gear Cleaning & Servicing Solutions It is a very important and necessary process after diving to clean and store your equipment correctly. This will maintain the life and performance of your equipment by preventing premature ageing and oxidization. Go Dive Brisbane outlines the necessary steps and products used in this process which can be purchased from Go Dive Brisbane. Remember scuba diving equipment is your life support equipment so make sure to get your scuba equipment servced every 12 months at Go Dive Brisbane. Don't take the chance underwater that it will get you through one more dive safely just to save $$$$, because saving $$$$ won't keep you safe to enjoy this great sport! Step 1- Fill two containers with fresh water. In one of the containers add a cap full of McNett wetsuit wash/shampoo, this shampoo 'is a scientifically balanced maintenance system for all neoprene/BCD products'. (Stir until water foams up). Step 2- Using the fresh water first, rinse your equipment thoroughly to eliminate any trace of salt or chlorine residue. Step 3- Then using the container with McNett's Shampoo, wash your BCD first. Then add the contents of B.C.Life to the interior of your BCD by pressing the deflate button to allow fresh water and B.C.Life to enter the BCD's bladder. This is the most important part of maintenance of your BCD (after deflating your BCD in the pool or ocean water enters the bladder and accumulates in the seals of the BCD therefore dissolving them). Step 4- Remove the BCD from the solution and manually inflate using the deflate button. Turn the BCD upside down and allow the water to effectively reach all corners, follow by allowing the water to be released through the dump valves located on the shoulders and rear of the BCD. Hang on a designated BCD hanger and allow drying away from direct sunlight. Step 5- Ensure that the dust cap is placed firmly in the yoke of your regulator before washing. Place your regulators into the shampoo solution and wash thoroughly making sure you DO NOT press the purge buttons located on the front of your regulator (this will allow water to enter the system which will negatively affect the performance of the regulator). Hang on a designated BCD hanger and allow drying away from direct sunlight. Step 6- For best results on neoprene products add Mirazyme Odour Eliminator (Mirazyme is an active enzyme that activates every time your neoprene products are wet, eliminating that wetsuit smell) to the water before cleaning your wetsuit, boots, gloves and hoods. Submerge neoprene products and run the zippers back and forth and ensure that the shampoo and Mirazyme passes through the interior. Hang on a designated wetsuit hanger and dry away from direct sunlight. Step 7- Fins and masks should also be submerged into the solution. After cleaning the fins replace foot pocket protectors and store. With the masks inspect for grime and mould build up, if present use Sea Buff mask and slate cleaner to clean surrounding silicone. Allow to dry and place into protective mask box. Step 8- Place dive bag into the shampoo solution and run the zippers back and forth, empty and allow drying away from direct sunlight. Step 9- Use UV Tech Surface Protectant on regulator hoses, BCD, valve caps, snorkels and mask/fin straps. 'UV Tech conditions and protects against colour fading and sun damage'.
