Koror is the biggest urban dwelling in Palau and is a great place to base yourself when visiting this beautiful country. It is the country’s economic and commercial hub and is within close proximity to some of Palau’s most spectacular and interesting sights. Take a trip to the famous Jellyfish Lake, learn about local heritage and culture at a local museum or bai, visit an ancient monolith, or visit one of the WWII relics left behind.
The Diving
Palau is world-renowned for its marine biodiversity and an abundance of large pelagic animals. From current swept plateaus to sheltered coral gardens, you will find an incredible range of diving for every level of interest and skill. The majority of diving is drift diving along the walls, plateaus and coral gardens of the outer reef, with the dive boat following along from the surface to meet you upon ascent.
Experience the sites that make Palau one of the top dive destinations in the world: the sharks of Blue Corner, the manta rays of Devilfish City and German Channel, and the coral reefs and stunning drop-offs teeming with marine life. Ulong Channel and the Rock Islands and Ngerchu - for some speedy drift dives.
Many of the channels have strong currents and reef hooks are an essential piece of diving equipment, however diving here is suitable for all levels of experience.
Departing August 2024
We depart Brisbane on August 20th, passing through Port Moresby en route to Koror. We then transfer to Palau Central Resort in ‘downtown Koror’.
We always recommend ensuring you have at least day or two either side available so you can pack at leisure & relax before returning to work on the other side!
Palau Central Hotel
As a landmark property, the original hotel opened in the 80’s to serve Palau’s budding tourism market as well as Trust Territory representatives and regional investors. Now fully renovated, the new Palau Central Hotel offers state-of-the-art rooms, in-house restaurant, gift shop and gym.
An upgrade to Deluxe Rock Island Room is available - with a larger room footprint, bathtub and amazing ocean views of the Rock Islands.
Who is coming? Is there room for me?
Check out our numbered spots below! If this trips books out and all spaces you can see are filled - please contact Di to see if more rooms, flights & diving can be sourced. travel@submersiblehuman.com.au
What if I'm travelling solo?
We will do our best to match you with an accommodation buddy to suit of the same sex. Many new dive buddy pairs start on our trips! You dont have to spend every waking moment with your roommate - there is much to explore outside, hang out in the lounge, swim, snorkel, read, or a favourite - just chill!
Some divers also like to upgrade their accommodation to sole occupant. This is also totally normal and acceptable!
